Land Planner

Jim Davis has almost forty years of experience in dealing with land design and aesthetics.

A native of North Carolina, Jim began his career in land planning in 1970 as a part time employee of a planning firm while still a design school student. He earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from North Carolina State University School of Design in 1972. Five years later, Jim established Community Land Design, a landscape architectural firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. He remained president of that firm until 1994 when in a company merger he became a senior partner with a regional, multi-disciplinary design firm placing particular emphasis on the consolidation of landscape architecture with architecture. Jim is well versed in all aspects of mainstream landscape architecture including: site design, master planning, site plan approvals, planting design, cost estimates and construction administration as well as general business management; he is currently licensed to practice landscape architecture in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Jim has been involved as a volunteer with Cary Visual Art, Inc. in Cary, North Carolina since 2006, chairing the Temporary Exhibits Committee which created and orchestrated the now annual Cary Visual Arts Outdoor Sculpture Competition & Exhibition. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Cary Visual Art and is a member of Tri State Sculptors.
